Jessica A. Krug is an associate professor of history and Africana Studies at George Washington University and the author of *Fugitive Modernities: Kisama and the Politics of Freedom* (Duke University Press, 2018), currently a finalist for both the Harriet Tubman and Frederick Douglass book prizes. She is a decolonial historian of Black political thought and action in West Central Africa and throughout the Americas, with a particular interest in non-state and fugitive societies, as well as hip hop cultures. She is a dancer with the KR3TS Dance Company, a copwatcher, and has written for *Essence* and *Racebaitr.*
