Jacqueline Alvarez-Rosales is an Associate Professor of Spanish at the Department of World Languages and Cultures, member of the African Diaspora and the World and the Honors Program at Spelman College. Her research focuses on the African diaspora in the Andes, race, identities and ethnic relations in the colonial period. Her book Los agravios de la letra and other publications deal with topics related to the colonial subject and the colonial “other,” with subversive and subverted discourses.
