Rogerio Medeiros
Rogerio Medeiros is an Associate Professor of Sociology at the Department of Social Sciences of the Federal University of Paraíba, Brazil. His current research explores the differential impacts of the Bolsa Familia Program - the Brazilian federal government's program of income transfer to fight poverty and extreme poverty – by disaggregating its beneficiary public as a social category. When analyzing the data on family trajectories collected between beneficiary families in Brazil, he seeks to bring together the literature on social policy analysis and the studies on intersectionality and multiple forms of inequality. More broadly, his work involves analyzing the social, political, and cultural consequences of the enduring reproduction of poverty and inequality and its impacts on the process of building citizenship in Brazil.
